Australia’s first National Venomous Bites and Stings Day - November 2022!

Each year in Spring the snakes come out to enjoy the sun, spiders are on the move with the rain and the jellyfish season begins! So it’s important all Australians take the time to refresh their knowledge of first aid for venomous bites and stings.

Over 1,600 Australians are hospitalised every year due to contact with venomous snakes, spiders or marine life. Would you, your family or friends know what to do if bitten or stung by a venomous creature?

While most people might think they know what to do when applying first aid for a venomous bite or sting in Australia, consumer research has shown knowledge is often outdated or incorrect.

Meet the 2022 Ambassador

Erchana Murray-Bartlett is our Bites & Stings Ambassador running 6200km from Cape York to Melbourne. The 32-year-old is running the equivalent of a marathon every single day with the hope of smashing a Guinness World Record and educating Aussies on how to safely enjoy the great outdoors along the way.
